Abstract:

We reported three cases of transgender hijra who underwent castration by quacks. Three transwomen of the hijra community, who underwent castration by quacks presented at the endocrinology with biochemical features of primary gonadal failure with a high level of pituitary gonadotropic hormones. Many transwomen of the hijra community in India, undergo traditional but unscientific
castration by medically unqualified personnel highlighting the need for widespread competent gender transition services in public hospitals.
